Enabling new users to get email notification of new posts

    I have ‘jetpack blog subscriptions’ widget enabled and working. I have added a stack of users from a previous emailing group via ‘add users from csv’ plugin. The users all show up under users and are marked up as subscribers but the dont show up in the numbers of subscribers in the widget setting so they dont get email alerts to new posts.
    Anyone help?
