We know that the Gutenberg Block Editor can be enabled for Product page by using simple filters.

But this leaves the Product Short Description ( div id=”postexcerpt” ) using the archaic classic editor.

Gutenberg was introduced to WordPress 5.0 over 6 years ago, way back in 2018 !

Anyone have an idea how Gutenberg can be enabled for the Product Short Description

@woocommerce : some reason why is cannot /should not be done ?

    Hi @treecutter,

I see you’re looking to enable the Gutenberg Editor for WooCommerce products. Right now, WooCommerce still uses the Classic Editor for the Product Short Description, and there haven’t been any official announcements about switching it to the Block Editor.

That said, you can try out WooCommerce’s new product editor (Beta), which brings a block-based editing experience, including for the Product Short Description. To enable it, head to: WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features and turn on “Try the new product editor (Beta).”

    I hope this helps!

    Hello Jonayed

Actually we asked this: Anyone have an idea how Gutenberg can be enabled for the Product Short Description ( we already got it working for the other product page parts )

Anyway your answer ( and our work ) has made the question redundant, as the new block based new (Beta) Product Editor does everything very nicely !

You guys have done a fantastic job with the new block based Product Editor, it is hugely better, so thank you for letting us know about it, we completely missed it was there !

How come it’s “beta” , seems to work just fine

    Hi @treecutter,

I appreciate your kind words! If you’d like, you can leave a review here: WooCommerce Reviews.

It’s labeled as “beta” because it’s still in the testing phase and hasn’t been fully released to everyone yet.
