“Enable Archives” in “Edit attribute” page

That’s definitely an odd problem. We are happy to dig deeper into this to help you figure this out.

I see that you were referring to this option: https://d.pr/i/N063BI

I took a look at this option within my test site, I was able to both check and uncheck the Enable Archives checkbox for the attribute, as you can see here: https://d.pr/i/N063BI

This means that there could be a problem with your site that might be triggering this. Could you try out the following troubleshooting steps?

* Try creating a new attribute and check if enabling/disabling the attribute works.
* While you are on the attribute page, right click and click on the Inspect Element button. Then, open the Console option and check if there are any errors in the browser console. If you see any, copy-paste them here.
* Can you go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and check if there are any errors? If so, please copy paste them here.
* If none of these steps lead you to anything. I’d recommend doing a full conflict test (deactivating all plugins and activating just WooCommerce. You might also want to switch to a default theme like Storefront). You can read more on conflict tests here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/
I’d recommend doing the conflict testing on a staging site, rather than a live site – in order to prevent changes from affecting your live site. You can use a plugin like WP Staging for the same.

That definitely sounds very odd. Just so that I understand this properly:

• You randomly have attributes have archives enabled
• Occasionally the unchecked archives get checked automatically
• When you manually check these archives, they do get checked
• However, later, they seem to get unchecked

I’ve not come across this problem in WooCommerce before, nor am I aware of anything that might trigger this problem. We would love to dig deeper to see why this might be happening.

Could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here in your reply to this thread.

Additionally, in order to troubleshoot the problem, we would need to replicate this. Could you temporarily uncheck enable archives for all attributes and leave it that way?

Once that’s done, install an Activity Log plugin in your site. The next time the problem happens, let us know. Correspondingly, take a look at the activity log and look for any actions at around the same time.

You can also try looking at WooCommerce > Status > Logs for any potential error messages. Shares them with us if you keep seeing anything over there.

Thank you for that status report. I am not able to replicate the problem of with Enable archives? disabling itself automatically. Typically issues like this are caused by aggressive caching or a theme or plugin conflict.

As a first step, contact your host to see if they can disable any cache features – including the drop-in plugin advanced-cache.php. Then try switching back to a default theme like Twenty Twenty and disable all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issue. Here is a link that better outlines that process:

If this fixes the issue, then re-enable each plugin one at a time, then the theme, until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.
