We have a number of sites running relevanssi that each have very large tables. After taking a look at each table’s contents, they’re rows and rows of stored search terms. Can these be emptied (truncated) or will this adversely affect user’s ability to search? Or is this just for us to see what people are searching or does it do something to improve a search result if that term is searched again?
    Thanks!

Those are not stored search terms; those tables contain the Relevanssi index, which is required for Relevanssi to work. If you truncate those tables, Relevanssi will stop working.

The stored search terms are in wp_xx_relevanssi_log. It’s good to keep those tables smaller. Relevanssi has a built-in log trimming (you can find it in Settings > Relevanssi > Logs) to handle that.
