• Disaster has struck, I have just done some amends to a site built in Divi, then added TinyMCE Advanced and checked the keep <p> tags option.

Its ruined the site inserting empty <p> tags in strange places that I cannot edit.

Tried disabling the option, no joy. Uninstalling no joy the empty tags remain.

Really stuck on this so if there is a swift solution I would like to know to keep the client of my back as they have already gone mad!

I solved this, had to disable and remove TinyMCE Advanced, then go through all pages I had edited since its instal and reformat.

This removed all empty tags as well….

Maybe it doesn’t like Divi theme but I use it on other sites without issue.

Hmm, never heard of something like that happening. WordPress keeps empty paragraphs by default. It pads them with &nbsp (you can see these in the Text editor), but that is not affected by the “Keep paragraph tags” option.

Also: “…inserting empty <p> tags in strange places that I cannot edit.” What are these places that you cannot edit? You should be able to edit everything in post_content. If the theme or a plugin adds non-editable areas there (like the youtube previews), these should not be affected by TinyMCE Advanced as they are… non-editable ??

We had the same problem in DIVI as well. This also includes just the Divi builder even if you aren’t using the DIVI theme. We are still using the builder as we transition to another theme and the same thing happens.

By in large – and the more we worked with Divi – it’s kind of a mess as it relates to code and fixes. That’s why we ended up switching and trying to get away from the builder.
