Empty sitemap error in search console after moving to https

We see that your sitemap here: https://giessedati.it/sitemap_index.xml is not empty. It has content on it. Can you confirm that you have added your https site in Google? We ask as the old http is different than the new https site. This guide explains more about adding a new site: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-connect-your-website-to-google-webmaster-tools/.

Once the new site is added, delete the sitemaps from the old site and submit them under the new site. This guide explains more: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/#google

I’ve gone thorugh all the steps of those guides. The sitemap was working good before https. I also connected the plugin to search console and the setup is ok.
The problem is that when I submit the sitemap, search console gives this error (example screen, not mine):

The provided screenshot shows that an incorrect sitemap URL has been submitted to the Google search console. Please, make sure that you have submitted only sitemap_index.xml to your Google search console property and nothing else.

The URl is right, I submitted sitemap_index.xml, and search console generate the complete link. If I click that link under “details” I can see my sitemap, but search console says that it does not contains URLs, not that the sitemap url is wrong.

We reviewed your XML sitemap and we confirm that it’s generated correctly. As you can see in this screenshot, the sitemap is not empty. We are not sure why Google is unable to parse it.

As the sitemap is correct, we recommend contacting Google for further assistance by making a post on their forum here https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters. They should be able to help you fix this issue.

Wow I feel you artemis21 I am in the EXACT same boat, SEO EXPERTS AND GOOGLE FORUM has failed to awense this QUESTION!! I have done all you have and then some, still fails no URL my site map is there!! Did you get this resolved, switched 72 hrs ago to HTTPS

Hi Hellodolly,
I had a security plugin (WP all in one Security) with a firewall/badbot utility, I deactivated it and know search console can see the full page. I already tried deactivating the whole plugin before but with no luck. Don’t know why it works if I deactive only that option, because when I turn off the plugin it should revert back all the changes…
