    Hi there,

Parent categories which are in themselves empty (as you should expect!) but which have subcategories that actually do have products in them, are NOT displaying.

SO, if the parent category has no products of its own, it will not display in ANY shop theme, even if there are subcategories full of products.

Could it be because all themes have category trees now disabled for their free versions? And so only the top level category is observed? And so if that is empty, then it is ignored? And so most of my inventory is ignored because it is stashed under subcategories?

If so, will paying for a pro version of any theme actually work to display all subcategories?

This is not theme specific, it just won’t work for any free theme whatsoever. It wasn’t always like this, l don’t get why this has changed.

OK bizarrely, something has happened after a day of trying to get this right. I don’t know what happened but as soon as l made this thread, the parent categories are now displaying.

    Very odd.

Was anybody else having this issue?

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
    ?
The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.`
