  • So with wordpress 4.4 & all in one 2.3.4. when I manual create events it populates fine. When I us a feed such as google it imports all the events but drops at dates and times. SO the calendar doesn’t know what to do with them. I edited one of the events that were imported from the feed. Editing the date and it then appeared in the calendar.

So the issue has to do with the date and time not being recognized.

Here is a link to an image that shows the issue in the events dash panel.

This is indeed the same issue that I am having importing a calendar via an ICS feed. The events are indeed imported and created within ai1ec but without a date and time being shown on the events page (as described by Larry_D above). Interestingly if I edit the event the event does actually contain within it the correct date and time and if I ave the event without changing anything the event summary page does then correctly show the date and time and the calendar is updated. Surely this is now enough characterization of the bug to allow Time.ly to fix this issue !

Reposted with typo fixed – sorry:

This is a bug, it will be resolved soon. We truly appreciate your patience in the meantime.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Any kind of an ETA on when this will be resolved?? Having the same issue and critical to my install. Thanks!

Make the database change I described above, delete all events, and refresh the feed to get back in business on the current version. Test the new version for us and report back, too!

Has anyone found a new solution, perhaps another calendar? It’s been over a week an no word on a solution. If nothing else communication is key in letting us know that it’s being worked on.

I’ve had to resort to using Google Calendar’s embed codes while the Time.ly calendar gets resolved. Hoping the Time.ly staff will keep us updated! I think the Time.ly plugin is by far the best calendar out there, and I really want to use it again.

The issue seems to be that the event dates and times are not imported from Google’s ICS, so while the events themselves are imported, they do not show on the calendar since the date and time are not known. I really wish I hadn’t updated my WordPress core to 4.4, since that’s what broke the calendar….

Lesson learned. The Time.ly calendar is probably my most important plugin. I won’t update WordPress again until there is also an update for Time.ly available so both get updated together. I can’t stand seeing Google’s ugly embedded calendars on my site instead of my beautiful and functional All-In-One Event calendar. Please hurry the fix, guys!!

I concur! The google embed is a good emergency bandage. I’ve done the same.

I don’t want to jump ship either. The problem is that I really like this calendar and when it works it’s SUPER great. BUT, when it breaks… errrrrr. I’ve got several site calendars down and dozens of others I wont update because of the now known issue.

We do really need better update communication though.

Well, my recommendation is to look at a paid calendar plugin.

I too was frustrated with the ics import and the 4.4 issues. But the reality is that this is a free plugin. It would be wonderful if it worked better, and I would be more likely to pay for a version of it if it did (because I think it is especially visually appealing) but ultimately the developer has no real reason to make timely fixes. His priority is obviously on his paid products, and I think that is ok.

That said, I took a look at paid calendar plugins, and I decided to go with Calendarize It through Code Canyon with the ICS import feature. It cost $46 all told, but since it is a big part of my site I was willing.

It is a bit less smooth on mobile than All In One Event Calendar. But it works. And for now (and in the future) that is more important for my project.

I have no affiliation with them. I am just sharing because Larry_D asked, as I asked a number of days ago.

If you want to see the calendar up and running you can see one of the widgets on my main page and the full calendar (not prettied up yet) here:

    https://stpatricks.thebrownfam.com/news-and-events/calendar

I also looked at The Event Calendar plugin but the cost was much higher and I had trouble with the free version displaying full width on my full width template (likely an issue with my theme though).

I am importing events from this calendar: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/maxlaxoc.com_moh9m00dtqqao0mi9p95cfh9us%40group.calendar.google.com/private-1b8c0e0b731a104189e97b878d93094d/basic.ics

All 19 events were imported but the start date and start time were imported as the time and date of the import.
None of the imported events show up in the calendar.
I edited one of the events by hand and that showed up in the calendar. Here is the link to the calendar:
    https://maxlaxoc.com/calendar/

I tried importing by csv and ics. Same problem.

Corey Salzano, I took your advice and edited the instant_event column to allow NULL values and it worked! Thank you so much.

Hi Ben – Can you give this group of loyal plug-in devotees ?? an eta for your bug fix ?

    Thanks,
    Andy

The update is out and just tested on one sight and it seemed to import a google feed flawlessly. Anyone else try yet?
