Empty caches results in HTTP Error 500

Whenever I try to empty any of the caches I get “HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.” I’ve tried manually removing the plugin and all associated files and reinstalling it from scratch (setting 777 permissions on wp-content and uploads folders and setting it back to 755 after activation), but I still get the same errors. Any ideas?
