Empty author on post when Co-Author plus is activated

We have quite a few posts published around 2012 who seem to have lost their author for some reason, but only when Co-Author plus plugin is activated. Has anyone experienced this? What could cause a post to “loose” author meta data?
Checked in wp_posts, and post_author is set, and that user exists and has the proper settings, as far as I can see. wp_user_level 7

and when listing posts https://www.clipular.com/c/5479925626699776.png?k=sPqZjcbseI8Nkw_xXvbXrCHSBF0This issue is clearcly related to the co-authors plus plugin. Need to find out how it stores author data, and find out why it failes on these older posts.
