    Hello!

    As I was facing mentioned issue, Before proceeding migration I commented out these as suggested here.

    /** Database charset to use in creating database tables. */
    // define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);

    /** The database collate type. Don’t change this if in doubt. */
    // define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

    Still, restored site doesn’t have proper emoji.

    When I restore my site with UpdraftPlus, it works as charm without any special tweaks.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Gulshan

  • Same problem here :(…

    The text “Pourquoi pas ?? !” become “Pourquoi pas ???? !”

    I’ve verifed the database encoding and on both sides, it’s “InnoDB – utf8mb4_unicode_ci”

    So each time I migrate a website to a stagging website all the smileys are lost.
    Any solution??

    TIA.

    Pierre.

    Used UpdraftPlus and it helped in restoring my site properly. Then made sure I copy, paste some additional files available in the public_html dir such as ads.txt, robots.txt
