I found out that deactivating the experimental features of Elementor and clearing all cache, made the icons go back to normal.

Meanwhile I’ve disabled some advanced settings regarding emogis in my cache plugin and it helped.

Great, settings in a caching plugin, mostly the ones regarding CSS and/or JavaScript optimization, often are the culprits.
