• Last year, I was embedding youtube videos into my posts simply by copying the embedding code from youtube and pasting it into my posts in edit mode. It always worked without a hitch.

Suddenly, I find I can’t do this – when I publish or preview the post, I end up with a blank space where the video used to show up. Does anyone know why this simple support for youtube embedded videos was changed? Seems like a backwards step!

I’ve googled for some directions on embedding youtube videos with the current version of WP, and see that you just paste the URL link into your post. It works fine, but I can’t see the embed code when in post edit mode – just the URL link. This means I can no longer customise the width and depth of the video screen as it appears in my published post.

No doubt there is a way to get to the embed code to do this, but I can’t work out how. Could someone advise, please?

    Cheers
    Ross

  • are you doing this in the html editor?
it works for me in local and web installs

I have the same problem, when I try and publish a post nothing shows up just a blank space. Can this be a theme problem?

Yes samboll, has to be html editor because I have the visual editor disabled. It beats me – just a few weeks ago, I could just paste the youtube embed code directly into a post and no problems.

Interesting that jpglab is having the same issue.

I just figured out on my blog that if a user is an author then the embedding of videos does not work, once I changed the users to the editor role they were able to embed video form youtube, vimeo, ect.

Not sure what you mean, jpglab. How do you change users to editor role, pls?

If you are an admin you can go to Users and click edit under their name. It will take you o a page where you can edit the user and change his/her role

I just switched over from .com and can’t get any of my youtube videos to load. Any help?

It’s often nicer to download a FLV player plugin and host your own videos (just throwing that out there).
