    Let me know if you figure this out. I was under the impression you could run the script in a text box widget but it’s not working.

    Shortcodes are usually for pages and posts, if I recall, and won’t work in the default Text Widget.

    Perhaps you might try to use the PHP Code Widget Plugin with the <?php wp_cycle(); ?> snippet instead?

    No won’t work for me either – annoying!

    Not least since advice says: Alternatively, you can use the shortcode [wp_cycle] in a post or page to display the slideshow.

    I was able to get this plugin to work using the PHP Code Widget Plugin per andrewmills’ suggestion with the space between the semicolon and ? removed from the snippet.
