• I’m a writer for symbianworld.org and it seems that embedding videos like youtube and vimeo doesn’t work. I tried to clear cache, history and all to two of my browsers, firefox and chrome with latest version same with flash player. After that the vids aren’t still working.

On the Visual tab I can see a flash video box (same on vimeo vids), but when I preview it, then there’s no any video, same when I publish the article the videos don’t show and the embedded code is gone when I came back to edit the post.

I’m just a writer and I don’t have a WP on my pc. But on the other site I tried to post with embedded videos like in thenokiablog.com (wp also) and a mobileworldinnovation.com (blogger) it seems the videos are working. I’m only having problem with the current site (symbianworld.org)

Is there a need for a plug in to install that should my admin do? But why it only happened to this site with wp.org.

Here’s what appeared on my Visual Tab and HTML : https://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3403/wordpresserror.jpg

Preview (same on final):

Can the admin of the blog successfully embed videos?

Yes2. He can put embed videos easily. He is in Eu and I’m from Asia. I really don’t know the problem. We are using 2.8.4 wp version.

What’s your user role?

I don’t know the exact level. But I could see the admin drafts & posts..I can publish immediately without admin’s review, but I can’t add categories or edit it.

WordPress by default removes certain tags from posts, such as <object>, <embed> etc for security reasons. Only administrators (or Super Admins for WP3 multi-blog) have the ability to post these type of tags. You’ll need to get admin privileges, or get a plugin that can generate video output, or a plugin that will skip the post tag filters.

It sounds like your user level is Author, and only Editors and Administrators can post unfiltered HTML, which pretty much means that you’ll never be able to embed a video with the actual embed code. Fortunately, WordPress now features support for oEmbed, so try posting just the URL of the video. See this for an example and more info:

posting the URL of the video doesn’t work. but on the previous blog it work. we are using 2.8.4. Should the admin update it or just install plugin for that url posting?

@blueinstyle
tnx for that info.

PS

I will ask the admin first regarding Embeds. Maybe just a settings.

Tnx again MacManX

oEmbed was introduced in WP 2.9, so you’ll need to upgrade to at least 2.9.2 or 3.0.

Your admin should consider upgrading anyway, since your version is full of publicly known security vulnerabilities.

All the the videos that I had successfully embedded in my blog posts from jaycut.com, a free video editing site, are GONE from the posts.

For example:

https://www.boulderdog.net/2011/01/12/sadie-bonks-kong-wobbler-doubletime-the-video/

You can see that the space were the video should be is blank.

However, on the ‘edit post’ page the html code for the video is in the body of the post, and in ‘view’ form a yellow square shows, just like it does for embedded YouTube videos.

I don’t have this problem with embedded YouTube videos.

What’s going on? Please help me fix it.

I am the administrator for the blog and the only author.

I’m using WordPress 3.0 (I’m pretty sure).

When you post the URL, make sure its on its own line.

If it still doesn’t work, try the embed shortcode:

[embed]https://videourl.com[/embed]

Thank you for your reply.

I’m not sure I follow what your saying. Here’s the html code that I got off of jaycut.com for embedding the video. It worked just fine until recently.

<object classid=”clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000″ width=”520″ height=”415″ codebase=”https://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0″><param name=”bgcolor” value=”#ffffff” /><param name=”flashvars” value=”playerPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fsites%2Fall%2Fthemes%2Fjaycut%2Fswf%2Fplayer.swf&imagePath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcommunity%2Fmixes%2Fa47GtoJMo%2Fthumbnail-big.jpeg%3Fley0q0&videoPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcommunity%2Fmixes%2Fa47GtoJMo%2Fpreview.flv%3Fley0pr&isLocal=false&srcPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcontent%2Fsadie-bonks-kong-wobbler-doubletime” /><param name=”src” value=”https://jaycut.com/sites/all/themes/jaycut/swf/player.swf&#8221; /><param name=”allowfullscreen” value=”true” /><embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”520″ height=”415″ src=”https://jaycut.com/sites/all/themes/jaycut/swf/player.swf&#8221; allowfullscreen=”true” flashvars=”playerPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fsites%2Fall%2Fthemes%2Fjaycut%2Fswf%2Fplayer.swf&imagePath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcommunity%2Fmixes%2Fa47GtoJMo%2Fthumbnail-big.jpeg%3Fley0q0&videoPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcommunity%2Fmixes%2Fa47GtoJMo%2Fpreview.flv%3Fley0pr&isLocal=false&srcPath=http%3A%2F%2Fjaycut.com%2Fcontent%2Fsadie-bonks-kong-wobbler-doubletime” bgcolor=”#ffffff”></embed></object>

I’m having the same problem.

I’m hosting my site at bluehost and have WordPress installed there, which shouldn’t be an issue, but that’s the background.

I simply want to embed videos (not my own) from YouTube into my posts; not into a widget.

Action: I tried the current iframe tag
Result: WP comments it out if I go to visual mode for the editor. It does nothing if I stay in HTML

Action: I tried the old object/embed code.
Result: code doesn’t change in the editor, but nothing appears in the post

Action: installed just about everything and in the end installed Viper’s Video Quicktags. This puts a YouTube button in both the WYSIWYG and the HTML editor.
Result: It pastes the following into the editor, but nothing on the site:

This really shouldn’t be this difficult, but then again, I’m coming from one of those starter site builders that embeds everything for you.

HELP! And much thanks ??

Try the following:

YouTube Plugins

I had tried all of these, so I started deactivating them, as well as other plug-ins. After deactivating several, I realized the videos started playing.

Some plug-ins clash it would seem…
