• Hi Guys,

    a strange one, to be frank I haven’t bothered deactivating any plugins as yet as it seems like it should be something else.

    Unable to make an iFrame work in the text view on the editor. I loaded a previously published post with embedded video, it runs from from the preview without problem. If I copy the code in the editor, drop it in a new post, and preview it I get a blank space where the embed should be.

    Code is unchanged, nothing has been stripped, by the editor, an exact copy but no output.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

  • What kind of video is this? If it’s just youtube or vimeo, you don’t need an iframe, just the url of the video will do. WordPress does embedding automatically.

    Well is this not subject to wordpress embedding style, if I wish to use parameters such as autoplay, or set display dimensions, or if to allow fullscreen, what then?

    Yes I can embed this;

    And even were this satisfactory what have I overlooked that allows existing embeds to display and copies of them to fail.

    Are you toggling between the visual editor and HTML editor when you do this. It could be that the code is being altered when that happens. These iframes are a bit finicky, that’s why I personally just stick to the url myself.

    I think that if you have a video that’s working properly on one page, but not on the other, I would check the HTML source code of both. I bet you that there’s an difference between both.

    I would try to keep the editor to HTLM mode as much as you can.

    No I am fully aware of the failings of the editor in this respect. The code is not stripped in any way.

    I have done my apprenticeship with WP to know that the Visual part of the editor is just not usable. But unfortunately its not that simple.

    I have not checked the html as yet, I was hoping somebody might have had the same problem, a light would come on and they would say, such and such has changed in the newer WP release and all you have to do is this.

    This sort of problem is why WP is such a love/hate relationship.

    Anyway thanks Christine shall compare the two later and report back should there be any light. Maybe this will help someone else.
