• It’s very easy to embed a Vimeo video with Gutenberg – just paste or embed and done. But there don’t seem to be any controls to enable autoplay or looping? the embed iframe that is created doesn’t include the &autoplay=1 option necessary to autoplay the video, and if I just add ?autoplay=1 to the end of the supplied vimeo video, it doesn’t autoplay.

Anyone able to embed an autoplay vimeo link with gutenberg?

  • This is not currently possible using the current Vimeo (or YouTube) Gutenberg Blocks, as the tags are stripped from the URL when it is inserted.

A workaround is to use the Custom HTML Block.

On Vimeo, choose the Share option that displays the embed code, tick the Autoplay box, and then copy/paste the complete Share code in to your Custom HTML block. The video will then autoplay as you want.

Note: Some browsers don’t allow auto-playing videos, so it may not work 100% of the time.
