• New to the forum, first time post…thanks for having me!

I’m looking for a solution (suspect a plugin) that will allow me to upload a video, preferably YouTube (for simplicity sake) to my WP5.0 site. I need the video to be playable only on the site, I want the visitor to be able to maximize, cast, stop, play, control volume, seek through the timeline and so forth, but I do not want them to be able to link out to Youtube, share the video, right click and copy the URL, view the URL in the source code and so forth. The videos are part of a paid subscription service that must be protected.

I’m also using Divi as my theme and editor.

Can any one recommend a plug-in or solution for accomplishing this?
    Thank you,
    Randy

  • There’s nothing out there that’s going to do this for you. While there are some good ways that Google lets you remove a lot of their branding from a YouTube video (see here) those won’t stop someone looking at your pages soruce code to find out where the video is from.

While I’ve seen some things that claim that they can do all of that, block everything and can’t be bypassed… they call can. The longest it’s taken me was just under 4 minutes – and I am not even remotely close to a hacker!

The only option that I can think of that would work is to set up all of the videos to be hosted on your own site, then set up access only through a PHP fie that checkes that the user is properly authorised before the video can be loaded. There’s a lot more to it than just that, but it’s possible if you do want to be paranoid about it. ??

Not possible, if it is visible on the user’s screen, it has already been downloaded/streamed to their machine and they can do whatever they want with it.
