  • Hi, please forgive me if it is bad behavior to piggy back on an existing request, but I’ve noticed the same thing. In using TinyMCE Advanced, I can no longer embed videos.

I’ve discovered that 3.9.1 is stripping out all iFrame calls which is what TinyMCE Advanced utilizes when placing video embeds.

esmi, or anyone else – is there a way to restore this functionality so that the TinyMCE Advanced video embed will work again?

I have noticed that the player is now JW. On iPads, our video displays with the correct width, but the wron height. It’s fine one phone and desktop, but not on iPads.

Hey can you try by simply pasting the youtube link on your editor and see if that works. WordPress’ current version supports direct embedding whenever it detects any link to youtube.
Sometimes the theme can also be a culprit so try with the twenty eleven theme.

Videos are embedding now. Since I started this thread there have been updates to a couple plugins – I wonder if that made the difference.

I found one thing that may be the cause.

If I use the text section of the editor, I can see that the closing embed code tag is being put right after the open tag rather than at the end of the URL. Even if I manually put it back to where it belongs, when I switch to the visual editor it changes the closing tag again.

With all due respect, that’s a bug, not a feature.

I was able to get a working embed as follows:

Any try to get “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtKF4H20NeA&feature=related” in the post by itself or to go inside an embed tag did not work per my post above.

I went to the Youtube website, and got an actual embed URL from the video. Once I pasted “<iframe width=”640″ height=”390″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/7A5Zi4veaw8″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>” into the post, it shows normally.

This is a vanilla install with no plugins active. It’s a course in WordPress, so it’s very basic.

Maybe someone with deeper knowledge can explain to the rest of us why the first URL would not result in a working video, and why the embed tags kept “spitting out” the first URL.
