  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Thank you. I’ve tried deactivating plugins – didn’t help.
I will need to try the other things you mentioned but first I am wondering if is my tinymce plugin that may be the problem. That is how I have been embedding video.

You don’t need a plugin to embed videos. Try reviewing Embeds.

I must be missing something because all it does is show the url address.

I have been dealing with this for a week and just realized the connection with the 3.9.1 upgrade. Prior, I would click on my insert video icon in my tinymce tool bar and past the url.

I have tried pasting the url there. I’ve tried pasting a url in the insert video under the insert pull down. I have tried inserting video from youtube and from my media library.

Just pasting the url into my content as instructed in Embeds just leaves the url address but doesn’t create a hyperlink.

    I am clueless.

Can you post one of these video urls here?

This link is one of them. I have tried it both with the tinymce icon and just pasting the link as mentioned in Embeds. If I use the icon, it just leaves a blank video box. If I paste the link in content it leaves just the url address.

This link works but it is from a previous post on my site

I have never had trouble pasting any links before.

I think you are pasting in the wrong urls. Did you review the page at the link I posted above?

I did but apparently there is something I am not understanding. I am doing the same thing I have done in the past and it has happening with multiple urls. I am missing the boat somewhere.

If I find a youtube I want, can’t I just past the url in the address bar?

Also, shouldn’t I be able to embed a video from my own video library?

    Yes – using the Video_Shortcode.

After I gave you that link, I realized it was through facebook. But that’s not the only one I had trouble with.

Apparently, I am doing something wrong and I don’t know what it is. I first discovered my challenge when I tried to embed my own video.

Appreciate your help. I see that it’s the user and not the program that’s the problem. I didn’t grow up with computers so all of this is a second language for me.

Thanks again for your time and help.

Have you tried reviewing the video shortcode page?

I have read through that page. It is something that sounds foreign to me right now so I will need to take some time and figure it out.

Thanks again for all your help.
