Embed my OWN videos on server?

  • I own my server and it’s in my physical possession. Since the nature of WordPress/PHP/whatever is limited in uploads (aka, uploading a 20gb file via WordPress uploader is out of the question) what I’ve been doing is just within the /var/www folder, I made my own folder, so when I go to my site/folder, I get an Apache listing of the files there. Then I right click, copy link, and link them in my Downloads section of the site. Once the user clicks, it downloads.

    Okay, great. But what if I want to upload a large .avi file to my /var/www/folder so it’s sitting within Apache. But instead of allowing the user to download it by clicking the direct link, I’d like to use that link to embed the video on my own server with content from my own server.

    I’m sure there’s a way, but I’m not finding much out. Thoughts?
