Embed code disappears when post is saved

This is caused by your theme stripping some HTML from the Post. Typically this does not occur if you do not SAVE the post after editing in HTML and also having switched to Visual Tab first. Just stay in HTML/Text Tab and save, then preview the post.

You could even disable the Visual Editor per user at All Users>User>Disable Visual Editor.

You can also stop this behavior, but best to discuss with Theme provider their preferred method.

There is also an unfiltered_html capability that you may not have.

To clarify, the iframe code gets stripped once I hit save, whether I go to the visual editor or not. I can watch it disappear from the screen when I hit the save button directly from the Text tab.

If I stay in the Text tab and hit preview, it takes me to the preview, where the embed is not there, but if I close the preview the code is still in the post editor.

If I stay in the Text tab and hit Publish, then the code disappears.

Thank you for the super-quick response, though. I’m not a good enough html programmer to disable the visual editor, but I’ll look into the unfiltered_html capability next.

Does this occur with all plugins deactivated and when using a default unedited theme? (it’s not a core WP problem, but a buggy theme, plugin or both).

Thanks for your help Pioneer Valley. The problem was that it was a multi-site installation (something I didn’t know until I started researching this and asked my co-worker) and I wasn’t a Super Admin so I didn’t have the unfiltered_html capability.

This is happening to me as well. I’m trying to embed the following code from a CBS Local Website which uses the world now player. I’m using the Modern News Theme.

If I paste the code below in the text box and click preview changes or update:

I am the administrator of the site (I’m new to Word Press). Super Administrator is not an option in my “change role” drop-down box.

A co-worker suggested I add the https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com domain to my theme’s whitelist… but I cant find a whitelist anywhere in my theme settings (Modern News).

Please Help. I’ve searched everything and can’t figure out how to embed video from the CBS Local sites. I’ve seen other threads where people have had similar problems with KCAL9’s Website (another CBS local site that uses the world now player).
