Emails to confirm subscription being sent to deleted addresses

Hi there @mattyrob (are you still there, you are no longer responding to questions? Perhaps you are based in Ukraine or Russia. ??)

The plugin is sending out emails to confirm their subscriptions to people who are not even on any list. This is, of course, triggering complaints, and I am having my email account affected by this.

I hope you are around and can help, otherwise I will have to start thinking of some other solution to subscriptions to my blog.
