Emails send too soon!

Hi – Apologies if this has been dealt with already. I’ve set a downloadable (but not virtual) item to have a custom email (with download link) sent only when the purchase is set to Completed, but the message is in fact being sent when the status is Processing. How can I prevent the email from being sent too early, please? (I need to be able to check manually against a membership list).
