When a customer books an event none of the emails are being sent. Neither to the customer to confirm booking, nor any of the admin emails.

It was working fine for years and then a few months ago just stopped. I haven’t added any new plugins or changed anything but the emails just don;t get sent.

i have tried a number of different emails and bookings and I have come to the conclusion that the emails are not being generated.

i am using the most up-to-date version of the software and have tried disabling plugins to see if there is any conflict and it is still not working.

Any ideas? I really need to be notified when a customer books so currently thinking I may have to uninstall.

  • Are you able to send and receive emails under Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings?

I have tried sending a test email to both my normal profile email, and an alternative profile email and neither test email is arriving.

Can you test with all the mailing sending methods listed on that page?

I am also having this problem.

When I approve the bookings I get a message “error, email not sent”

Then the person who is trying to register gets an email saying “your registration might not have bee successful.”

    Why is this?

@caimin_nwl – I have sent the “test email” via the test button to 2 different email addresses and it didn’t work. There are no other methods for testing as far as I can see.

@brightcrossfire – I don’t get anny error messages but no emails are being sent – either to the bookee, or to admin, and the bookings are also not showing up as notification in the menu usually if there is a booking it shows a little number by the bookings menu. Something is obviously off with the notification.

i am going to have to delete this app at this rate as I need to be notified when people make bookings as I don’t check very often.

@brightcrossfire Did you try with the different mailing sending methods listed under Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings?

@birthzang Do you see a dropdown called “Mail sending method” under Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings?

Under SMTP I got this error message:

    Email not sent.
    SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

And none of the other email settings worked

Do normal WordPress email notifications work (for new comments / registrations, etc.)?

I do get comment notifications from wordpress, yes. Just not for this app.

could it be in your email spam folder? also, can you try the test button under Events > Settings > Email > Email Settings > Test Email Settings?

not in spam, test email button doesn’t do anything. The emails used to work fine but a few months ago just stopped.

It’s possible this conflict caused by your theme or another plugin. To check if it is, can you test with all other plugins deactivated and while running the default WordPress theme?

Hello! I am experiencing this issue too now: SMTP connect() failed.

Regular gmail-account. Worked before, but had the registration form disabled for some time. Re-activated now, and it won’t work.

In the meantime server har been updated to 5.6. Could this be an issue?
