I have a new website using this plugin – the first email I sent to a group went fine. Now I’ve tried several emails since then and none are going through. I’ve tried sending to a group and also selecting and sending to individual users. Can’t figure out what’s wrong.

The only change I made to any code was to remove the paragraphs in the php file that had the leader text before a blog post in the notifications.

    Thanks,
    Michele

I would go back and reinstall the plugin to remove any possible changes and test that.

By “leader text” do you mean the text that is prefixed to the subject of the email message which by default contains the name of your blog?

If I remove the plugin and then reinstall, it’s not going to do anything to my list of users that I’ve entered for my site, right? I’d hate to have to add those 200+ back in again!

The text I changed was to take out the 2 short paragraphs or so that are lead in text saying something like “hello, you are getting this blog post”.

No, deactivating and installing Email Users will not have any affect on your existing users. The only possible exception would be they might lose their Email Users notification and bulk email settings but those are easy to fix from the Email Users -> User Settings page.

FWIW – the text you modified is the Default Notification Body and changing the text in the plugin source code will not have any affect on what is sent to the users UNLESS you changed it before you activated the plugin. That paragraph is used as the default value for the notification text and is stored in the WordPress database.

You can change the value of the notification text by going to the Email Users Settings Page.

    To fix your problem …

Do you have FTP access to your site? If so, I would reupload the one file you changed to replace the one on your site without de-activating the plugin.

If you don’t have FTP access then your only choice is to remove and reinstall the plugin.

    Hi Mike,

I too am having difficulty sending emails. When I select all – Ctrl-A – write my email – and hit send, I get a copy as the administrator but no one else seems to receive it.

It must be something simple that I’m not doing, but any help would be much appreciated.

@arehrlich – the plugin now features a debug mode where you can take a look at the mail headers which will be used to send the email. I would enable debug mode (the setting is on the Advanced tab of the plugin settings page) and then send a test email to your group.

In debug mode the mail will never be sent but the construction of the mail header will show up in the Dashboard. You can see if the list of users you expect to see is actually there.
