emails not being received

Hi, i have set an automation up for an email to be sent after a new order. No matter what i try no emails are being sent and nothing is going into the log. The test works but thats it.
Also, is there a way to send an email with the order details after the new order is generated? I want the email to contain my gift card code but this code is not generated until a new order is completed. So the email has to be sent after the order is generated.
