    Hi,

I don’t know if this is how the plugin is supposed to function or if I am doing something wrong but my emails are not being captured via the form. Each time I test with my email address, when I hit subscribe, I get redirected to my mailchimp sign in form, where I’m asked to enter my email address again. I thought the plugin allowed you to sign up via the optin form (ie. capture the email address).

Would appreciate help with this; I’m using a heatmap plugin so I know people are clicking on the subscribe button but I don’t see any new subscribers so there’s an issue somewhere.

    Thanks!

  • Hi ladeyemo,

you are right, this is not supposed to happen. The plugin should allow you to sign up through the optin form.

I am 95% sure that this is caused by using a non-default field identifier with MailChimp. The plugin is set to use the default values called EMAIL and FNAME.

    To fix this:

    1. Login to your MailChimp account
    2. Click on Lists in the navigation menu
    3. Click on the name of your list
    4. Click on Settings in the submenu
    5. Click on List fields and |*MERGE*| tags
    6. Double check that your first name field is using the tag FNAME. If it is called LNAME or NAME, you are using a different field, respectively last name field or full name field. You can rename that field to FNAME and click on Save Changes
    7. Try submitting the form on your website again

Let me know if this fixed your issue! ??

    Hi Boris,

Thanks for the instructions. Right now, I’m only using the email field; nothing else. I just want people to be able to put their email address in and get signed on to the list once they hit subscribe. So I checked on the List and Merge tags and saw that the email field just uses the tag “email” which I assume to be correct.

Would it help if I sent you my site address privately so you can see what’s happening?

    Thanks

Sure, send through https://codeleon.com/contact and I will take a look!

    Sent! Thanks

Sent a reply. Seems to be working for me! ??

    I’m having a similar problem.

I have a double opt-in setup using a form designed in the Mailchimp for WordPress plug-in.

Last week this was working fine and I started getting emails being captured.

However, I have tried a few different email addresses for testing, and none are receiving the confirmation email that should be sent in return.

Please advise on what I need to check to locate the issue.

    Cheers
    Pev

    Hi PierinoGattei,

I would like to help you out, but you are not using the Optin Forms plugin, but the MailChimp for WordPress plugin ??

    Apologies and thanks
