• They used to work just fine, now they don’t. SMTP and PHP mail don’t work. They worked prior to the latest wp release so i don’t know where to put the blame…. but this is a huge mess not being able to get mails from wordpress. i can send and recieve from anywhere ….except wordpresss.

  • Hi jbthechamp,
    I’m on wp 4.2.4 and WP mail SMTP works fine here. Did you try to send a testmail from the tool ? Did you try to install an SMTP logging tool ?

    Hi, I am having the same problems, I’m still on 4.2.4 and the emails have just stopped working.

    I have tried the ‘test’ option and they work using that, but when I try to register, no email is sent to either the account joining, or the owner advising of new users.

    I am having the same problem. Has anyone found a solution?

    Moving to 4.3 I stumbled onto errors too. As I’m not sure the author is still alive, I had to switch to another plugin unfortunately.

    Casiepa, which plugin did you switch to? I’ve tried a couple, but had the same issues

    Having the same issue but I don’t know why when I tried on my local machine it worked!

    But on my online hosting platform I tried a couple of different plugins and couldn’t make any of them working with WordPress 4.3.

    It is still working fine with WordPress 4.2.x

    Hi Guys,
    I had to switch to postman smtp.
    Pascal.

    I tried Postman. The plugin said that the test email was successful, but in fact nothing was sent out.

    We’ve gone back to WP 4.2.4 with Wp Mail SMTP until I can find a plugin that works with the newest WP.

    It’s very unlikely that the version of WordPress you use affects your email delivery. WP Mail SMTP is as effective as Postman when properly configured, for non-OAuth2 servers anyway.

    If you have a problem receiving the email sent by your system, it is likely that your own email server is periodically rejecting emails for an SPF or Spam violation. Since each case is unique it is impossible to provide a “this is how to fix your email” solution that fits everyone. But I believe every case is ultimately fixable.

    Postman’s email log records the session transcript of outgoing emails. That transcript is the key to resolving your email issues.

    Thanks Jason Hendriks, after reading your message I tried Postman again, and it worked perfectly! I guess I was too tired/frustrated when I tried yesterday.

    Now I can add Postman to my sites and upgrade to WP 4.3.

    Thanks again,
    -Bruce

    @jason Hendriks,
    You seem to know something about Postman :-p
    I unfortunately don’t agree with your statement. Postman DOES work on 4.3, WP mail SMTP does not work for a lot of people… I switched to Postman, your plugin took over all settings and suddenly all worked again.
    Pascal.

    Wow, Postman is awesome — very well thought out in every respect. Love the WP Mail settings import, and the logging is super-useful. Nice job Jason!

    Definitely my go to mail plugin when needed. ??

    You know, in case this benefits someone else, our client was using Office 365, which suddenly stopped working. Postman revealed the issue as: 5.7.62 SMTP; Client does not have permissions to send on behalf of the from address.

    Test emails were being sent fine – exactly what many others in these threads are experiencing. If nothing else, Postman will give you a starting point to troubleshoot.

    @johnny_n

    Postman revealed the issue as: 5.7.62 SMTP; Client does not have permissions to send on behalf of the from address.

    Resolvable in Postman by checking “Prevent plugins and themes from changing this” in Configure Manually > Message > Message from Address.

    That’s interesting. Thank you for this. Very good to know!

    I inherited this site – it turns out that whoever did the initial configuration set the email address starting with a capital letter, instead of lowercase. Turns out, switching that out fixed the problem.

    The client insisted that it ‘suddenly stopped working’ but it surely stopped working as soon as it was configured. ??
