We use Email2DB to process data, extract elements and send these in an email to the blog. Postie has worked perfectly since installation but has ceased posting this week. If we send the same email in from Outlook it works but when coming in from Email2DB it appears to be being rejected on the grounds that it is coming in from a unrecognised email address. But, the email address is displays, while not the same as from where it was sent (I don’t understand this part) is set up as an Administrator and also added Authorised Addresses list.

We have the exact same issue on another WordPress site that was set up the same and updated this week. It appears that they Authorised Addresses or the existence of more than one Administrator are not being recognised by postie?

    Thanks.

Thanks for the report. I’m not seeing the same issue on my test system. Please install and activate the Support AddOn https://postieplugin.com/downloads/support-addon/

Once an email is found to process the addon will save the logs into your media library as a zip file. Please forward this file to [email protected]

Thanks for the prompt response Wayne.

I’ve installed the support addon and as soon as I have the .zip file I will email it over.

    Morning Wayne,

Overnight we have had half a dozen emails be sent in. The log is up and running (set to collect logs for 2 emails) and says that it is collecting data but it doesn’t appear to have placed a file in the media library.

It does appear that when it is finding emails from the incoming address it is saying that the email has been sent from another address. We do know that other address but cannot fathom why it is referencing it, or how. When we do add that address to the Authorised Addresses it is still rejected. We’ve also set that email up as an Admin but no dice.

    Tim.

Wayne, I’ve found the issue and it was on our side. Our ISP changed the hosting on our mailboxes and the emails weren’t arriving properly. It’s all working now. It does post the full message when we want it to post an excerpt as per the rest of the blog set-up. I can’t find any information on that setting or why it is ignoring the blog settings?

Good news on the ISP fix.

    >we want it to post an excerpt

There are 3 types of excerpts.

    • Manually created. Postie supports excerpts as described here: https://postieplugin.com/faq/creating-excerpt/
    • Automatically created. This depends on your theme and is the first 55 works in the post
    • Teasers. These show up like an excerpt, but are generated using the More tag

Since Postie isn’t responsible for the display of your blog you’ll need to investigate how your theme works to provide excerpts. It is possible that additional metadata needs to be added to your posts in order for the them to display correctly.

Sorry I wrote in the wrong place… I can’t removed this
