Emails are not sending to customers

    Emails are not being sent to customers at all, not when they purchase an item, not when it’s refunded, etc. In test mode the emails go through but for some reason they are not occuring on the actual live site. I use BlueHost and built a WordPress site using Flatsome Theme and WooCommerce. I signed up for Google Workspace in order to create a business email a long time ago, but never set it up to work with WooCommerce as I did this before actually creating the website.

    For the past few days I’ve been trying a number of different fixes. I’ve installed WP Mail Log which told me I had an error 13: Invalid SenderAPIKey.

    From there I installed WP Mail SMTP and signed up for SendLayer as my mailer service but this did not resolve my issue. I then upgraded to WP Mail SMTP Pro in order to try and use Gmail as my mailer since that is the email provider I used to create my business email and still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

    Also, the WP Mail SMTP Pro features a “White Glove Setup” option in which they can have an expert set it up for me, however, it requires a wordpress login to my account and I don’t have a way to login to my website though WordPress. I can only access my wordpress site through my BlueHost account. Is there a way I can retroactively link my website to a WordPress login account so I could submit to them?

    Hi and thanks for reaching out! It would be difficult to provide troubleshooting here without an account, however, with some of the details provided we do have a couple of suggestions. You had mentioned purchasing Google Workspace and that you had not yet set it up. If your mail records automatically updated to Google but the account does not yet exist, the email will not function. If this is the case, you need to either set up the website’s email account on Google or point your MX records back to your Bluehost account to use the free webmail. 

    You will want to verify there are no issues with the email you are using before getting into the WordPress side of things. Regarding WordPress and logging in; You can log onto your website without going through the Bluehost control panel if you prefer. All WordPress installations will have users setup with an associated password. This information can be entered into the WordPress login screen by going to your “website/wp-login”. This will allow you access without logging into Bluehost. If you don’t know your password or your WordPress users, you can find the user management options in the WordPress dashboard. 

    If the email is functioning properly and setup correctly within WordPress this may be more of a developer issue, however, we would still be happy to take a closer look. Feel free to contact our support team by phone or chat, and they would be happy to assist you further.

    @bluehostsupport I don’t know where to begin with my Google Workspace. What do you mean set up the website’s email account? I have a google workspace email that is supposed to be my business/administrator email but I have noticed that on my website my administrator email is still my personal email. I’ve tried changing this but also got the Invalid SenderAPI Key error when attempting to change to my Google Workspace email.

    Can you provide me with Bluehost’s customer support number?

    Also @bluehostsupport when I tried accessing my website’s wp-login page it gave the 404 error and is no longer found. Is there another way to resolve this?

    To clarify, neither relying on the WooCommerce built-in email settings nor using an SMTP plugin worked for you, correct?

    Are you sending your emails as a Gmail account, or is it a custom email?

    Additionally, are no emails being received or only specific email types? Have you checked that these emails have not landed in the spam folder? Do you receive any emails from your WordPress? You mentioned your customer not getting emails, but are any emails from WooCommerce or your entire WordPress set up landing in your own inbox?

    Can you try installing the?WP Mail Logging plugin, please?

    This will log all outgoing emails so you can see what is being sent. Once installed:

    • Generate a test order
    • Go to your admin dashboard > WP Mail Log
    • Check that your test order generated an email, and if there are any sending errors reported

    Hi @omarfpg,

    Correct, I have tried using WP Mail SMTP Plugin using both Sendlayer and Google to no avail.

    I’m not sure, I built the website following a YouTube Tutorial. I first signed up for Bluehost, then created a wordpress site that is hosted on BlueHost. From there I created the website using Flatsome and WooCommerce plugins. Bluehost suggested I use Google Workspace email for my business email and so I created one and that is supposed to be my business email. It Is supposed to be sent from this account I created for the business.

    No emails are being received by the customer. I have checked in the spam folder and still nothing. However, I still receive emails from whenever I receive an order or refund one.

    I have already installed WP Mail Logging and I am not seeing any emails being sent at all.

    Hi @xavierray95,

    The “Invalid SenderAPIKey” error indicates that the API key or SMTP configuration you’re using to send emails either from your Google Workspace account or your hosting SMTP may not be correct.

    It would be best to contact Bluehost support directly after logging into your Bluehost account here. Then, they can access your account and provide a more accurate solution for the email and WordPress login issues.

    I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.

    I am having a similar problem to the initial person who posted.

    On my website I offer the applicants a chance to pay immediately (at the end of the registration form), or via cash on the day.

    Unfortunately when they complete the form they do not receive a confirmation email from the site. Those who pay at the end of form will receive confirmation of payment from the payment company I am using, but not an email of confirmation from my website. Likewise those who choose to pay cash on the day do not receive any email at all.

    I am using Brevo, and the test email works (although it goes to my junk folder and not my inbox which is another problem!).

    How do I resolve this issue?
