Email Turning to Spam over time

So for months a friend was using [email protected] for his emails with no problem, but no its picking up an error message that is rgeistering it as spam…..is it possible that over time emails can turn into spam?

If so I guess the option is to have an email similar to the domain or if not is there a technical error I could be missing?
