Email subscription for RSS aggregator?

    Hello

    I’ve created a RSS aggregator feed with a variety of different blogs. I’ve then gone onto settings to see the custom RSS feed URL. But when I try and create an RSS feed for it, WordPress doesn’t recognise the URL. I’ve tried changing it a few times but it doesn’t work. Is it also possible to create an email subscription to this custom RSS feed? I’ve got one for my blog but I really hope you can create an email subscription for the RSS aggregator feed I’ve created.

    Any help will be much appreciated

    Hi @psychbrief and @gunnerstown,

    For the custom RSS Feed URL not working, have you tried to resave your Permalink settings ? You can do this by going to WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save.

    With regards to the email subscription for the custom RSS Feed, it is certainly possible but is outside the scope of our plugin. You can read more information about this in here.

    Thanks for the suggestion about resaving the Permalink settings. However that doesn’t seem to have changed anything. Is there anything else you can recommend?

    Is there any specific error/message on your Custom RSS Feed URL ? What happens when you try to access it ?

    If there is a specific error involved, please provide us with the error message and the step-by-step you have done so far to create the Custom RSS Feed URL. Any screenshots you could include would also help greatly with troubleshooting the issue.

    Damn I’m really sorry I didn’t realise you had replied. I’m trying to set up a custom RSS feed via the WordPress widget on my homepage. I have called my custom feed URL “psychmethods” (without the quotation marks) and the error message displayed when trying to create the feed is:
    RSS Error: A feed could not be found at https://psychbrief.com/psychmethods. A feed with an invalid mime type may fall victim to this error, or SimplePie was unable to auto-discover it.. Use force_feed() if you are certain this URL is a real feed.

    Hi @psychbrief,

    Assuming this is the page you want the Custom RSS Feed have its content coming, this won’t work since you are still using default permalink.

    The feeds are only available if you use non-default permalink settings in your WordPress site’s settings as is explained here.

    Please try to change your permalink setting other than Default and let us know if this works for you.
