• So we had planned this migration from com to org quite well I thought, except that after the migration we find that the email followers from wordpress.com are not migrated to the self-hosted installation.

We’re using Jetpack which allows us to use WordPress.com’s email systems (which is great!), we can download a CSV file of the several hundred subscribers we have, but there is no obvious way to “import” them into the new blog.

Originally, the blog was called https://augbeck.wordpress.com, then we acquired a domain, https://oecdinsights.org which was an alias and managed by wordpress.com, and which we have now migrated to self-hosted. From the outside, my understanding is that the email followers are subscribed to the https://augbeck.wordpress.com (which was incidentally also available under https://oecdinsights.org). So while we don’t lose any SEO ranking (same domain, same permalinks), we seem to lose our email subscribers.

Could someone please confirm or infirm this?
Couldn’t someone at wordpress.com flip a switch from one blog name to another, given that the jetpack plugin still uses the same infrastructure? A happiness engineer maybe? We might even be able to pay for it.
