EMail Settings to send out registrations information

How do I set my outgoing email settings – (either in WordPress Source) – so that people can get their username and password via email.

My server requires authentication (username/password) – and since there’s no place to put it – where/how can we fix this?

Would like to see this in the control pannel. It would solve this issue immedately!
