    Hello,

It seems that the email box/field in the checkout page is somehow automatically connected to mailerlite. I mean the box itself where the email is typed, you don’t even need to purchase the course, as soon as you type the email in that field and go to the next checkout field, the subscriber/client gets the double opt-in mail. Then, once the course is bought they get a second double opt-in mail. (the normal one after purchasing a product).

It has nothing to do with the double opt-in, because if I disconnect double opt-in options I also get the user added to subscribers list automatically (without buying the course, just for the sake of typing a valid email in the mail box/field). I just left the double opt-in option ON because I need it and also so that someone else can check if they are getting that mail automatically once they type it. (If I deactivate it, it would be only me who could see that the client has been added to the list, but not the client itself, or the ones helping me out).

I’ve deactivated all plugins, leaving exclusively “WooCommerce” and “MailerLite – WooCommerce integration”, and the problem is still there. Emails get direct to All subscribers list as soon as typed in checkout. (After purchasing they get added to the corresponding mailing lists/automations as well, which is normal).

This happened suddenly some weeks ago… any ideas? possibly a bug? I’m quite lost :S

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Kuermo,

In the checkout page, if your customers check the newsletter signup checkbox they automatically become your subscribers. If you have enabled double opt-in in your account they will receive the confirmation email.

You can show the checkbox in the checkout page but not preselect it by changing the respective settings in the plugin’s settings page.

    Hello,

I don’t have a newsletter signup checkbox as I want them to be automatically added to the list after purchasing the product (*after* clicking in the final checkout “Buy” button).

The thing is they get added to the list *before* purchasing the product. Just as soon as they type their email in the email field in the checkout. As a result they get *two* double opt-in mails:
1: as soon as they type their mail in the field.
    2: after purchasing the product.

As I mentioned double opt-in is not the problem, as I’m experiencing the same problem without double opt-in being automatically added twice to the subscribers lists:
1: to the general list that I setted in the settings.
2: to the list clients are added after purchasing that specific product.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

PS: You can check it by going to the web I shared in my first email and type your email address in the email field, do nothing else, and wait for the double opt-in mail.

    Hi Kuermo,

We are preparing a fix for this issue which will only send one double opt-in email per subscriber.

It will be released early next week.

    Oh, that would be great!

Ideally the one after purchasing the product and not the one after filling in the checkput email field.

    Thanks!!

I’m afraid double opt in emails are sent when the subscriber is added, which in this case is on the checkout step.

    Hello,

Sorry, maybe I was not clear before. The issue has nothing to do with the double opt-in.

I made a screenshot so you can see what I mean: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CKUW37UENdGpCy1rkDIB8raPz2J-R7Sc/view?usp=sharing

    1. I go to the checkout page.
    2. I go directly to email field and fill the email in.
    3. I receive the double opt-in mail without having filled in any other field, without having purchased the product, without having clicked in any other button.

If I have no double opt-in option on, (I have tried) the suscriber goes automatically to the All Subscribers group. Exactly doing the very same thing, just by writing the email in the email field, and not clicking anything else. That also should not happen, as the client/subscriber should not be added until they press Accept.

I hope I managed to make my issue clear this time. ??

Thanks a lot for your help and patience!

    Hi Kuermo,

I did notice that, I believe one of your plugins submits the checkout data to the backend automatically without user action.

Can you get in touch with us and send us a list of your plugins at [email protected]? I would like to get to the bottom of this.

    Thanks,

    John

    Hi Kuermo,

The latest version of the plugin includes a setting to add the customer as a subscriber after the order is submitted instead of during checkout.

    Hello John,

It’s quite strange, but just FYI I am still having the problem with mails being sent automatically ??

BTW, I contacted the support team as you recommended.

    Hi Kuermo,

You checked the setting to add the customer as a subscriber after purchase and still emails are sent on checkout?

    Hello John!

My bad, I understood your previous message incorrectly, and I thought it was something that should work just by updating the plugin.

Now I found the setting and it works!!! WOW thank you so much for all the effort and patience!

For what it’s worth: while I was looking for the setting you told me, I tried something else I never did before. If I uncheck the setting called “Hide checkbox > Check to hide the checkbox. All customers will be subscribed automatically” the problem would disappear. So apparently the error is related to that setting. Still that wouldn’t be useful for me as I need customers to be subscribed automatically and I need to have that setting checked.

Thanks once more! You made my day!
