    Hi, your plugin is really great, but I think I have found what looks like a significant bug. If user email has a + sign, it seems like this is being stripped. So email notification can be sent to wrong person. Can you please resolve this asap? Thanks

    Hi @contact3243,

    The issue doesn’t have any relation to the wpDiscuz.

    There are two possible reasons that may cause the issue.
    The first one is core WordPress, the second is your mail server. It both cases you need to contact the corresponding` WordPress support or your mail server support and let them know about the issue.

    Thank you for your response. When I deactivate wpDiscuz and make no other changes, and redo test, the plus sign is not stripped out of the email and all is fine. If I reactivate wpDiscuz, the plus sign is stripped out and the email goes to the wrong person and address.

    Would this suggest it is related to wpDiscuz?

    Please answer these questions:

    1. What emails do you mean?
    2. The emails you receive from the wpDiscuz Comment Subscription or the User Subscription / Following or not?
    3. The emails from the user or the guest?

    Thank you for the response. Here is an example:

    https://wordpress.com/settings/discussion/ [domain] settings include:
    Users must be registered and logged in to comment – YES
    E-mail me whenever – Anyone posts a comment – YES

    Create new wordpress post with author User A.

    User B email address is like: userBfirstname+userBlastname @ [domain] . com

    Then when User B writes new comment on post

    If wpdiscuz not activated

    User A receives this email:

    Subject: Comment: “Test 10” wordpress@ [domain] [dot] com
    New comment on your post “Test 10”
    Author: Firstname Surname (IP address: xxx)
    Email: userBfirstname+userBsurname [at] [domain] [dot] com
    URL:
    Comment:
    New comment 2

    If wpdiscuz activated, and all other settings as before

    User A receives this email:

    New comment on your post “Test 10”
    Author: Firstname Surname (IP address: xxx)
    Email: userBfirstnameuserBsurname [at] [domain] . com
    URL:
    Comment:
    reply 4

    You can see it has stripped out the + from the email address.

    Can you please investigate/test and see if you experience the same?

    These are not with subscription to comments, these are just the emails received by post author (User A) when User B comments on author’s post.

    In addition to this issue, if I have used wpDiscuz it means if I use another plugin for User B to receive an email notification when someone writes a reply to user B’s comment, User B does not receive the email notification because the + has already been stripped from User B’s email address.

    If I originally deactivated wpDiscuz so that original + does not get stripped, then using this other plugin also works fine and User B receives the email notification correctly.

    So my guess is that the issue comes from wpDiscuz stripping the + sign. Thank you for your help resolving this
