I received an email saying I must upgrade Jetpack because my site is commercial. My site isn’t commercial. I have no ads, I don’t sell anything, and all the posts are mine. I’ve been lucky in the last few years that google has sent a lot of folks to read posts. I like the traffic, but I don’t get any $ from that. I’m a senior and on a limited budget. I started blogging as a way to keep my mind active. It’s nice that I seem to have a lot of traffic, but I can’t afford to pay a monthly fee for Jetpack. I know I could add ads and paid posts. I get requests daily in the last year from folks wanting to buy posts, links, etc. What can I do?

    Hi @floridagirl7750

Thanks for sharing more information about your site.

When I reviewed your site, there is code in the source that says:

<!-- REDACTED_URL is managing ads with Advanced Ads -->

To use Jetpack Stats for free, you will need to remove that code.

Once that code is removed, you can request re-classification by following these instructions:

    Hey @floridagirl7750,

Do you have updates about that, do you still need help? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

I did what you suggested in first box to reclassify, but I don’t know if it happened. How do I find out?

    Hi there, @floridagirl7750,

I can confirm that your website is for non-commercial use only now, and therefore qualifies for our Free Stats plan. I have adjusted this in our records.?

To use Jetpack Stats for non-commercial sites, please follow the flow on this page to certify that your site is non-commercial:? https://wordpress.com/stats/purchase/

Check the boxes that apply to your site which make it non-commercial. Please note that even after doing that, you won’t be able to see your stats at the moment because Jetpack is having trouble connecting to your site.

The error we are getting at the moment is a 405 Method Not Allowed error. To address this, I’d suggest checking if you have any security plugins activated that might be blocking our requests. If not, try contacting your hosting provider and asking them to check their security logs to see if they are blocking or otherwise limiting incoming and outgoing connections over XML-RPC.

I’d also recommend checking that our IPs range in fully on the allow list.

Let me know what you find out, and we’ll take it from there if necessary. Thanks!
