• Around November 2013, we stopped receiving any emails from WordPress. Previously, we received emails when people commented and used our submission form (powered via the Gravity Forms plugin). No significant changes were made to the site at that time, just standard upgrades of WP and our plugins.

Any advice how to get the notifications going again? I’ve tried toggling the “email me when” settings under Settings: Discussion, to no avail.

  • Could be an issue with your email provider and not with your WordPress install. I suggest using SMTP instead of PHP Mail. Install a plugin called WP-Mail-SMTP and configure it so that all WordPress emails are sent that way.

This could potentially resolve the issue you are having. Hope this helps.

This is strange. I installed/set up the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin, as you suggested. I tried sending a test email to myself, and never received that.

I’m curious to know whether anyone else is experiencing this.

What is your email domain? Gmail? some other? Let me know. And you said you always received emails on that same email before?

Gmail. I and the other two admins all use Gmail. And our collective site address is Gmail.

Yes, the author used to get email notifications when comments were published to their posts. We also had our form plugin send emails to our site address. These emails all sent with no problem until sometime in November 2013.

Thanks. is the email address in wordpress @gmail.com or are you using @yourdomain and set that up in gmail as a forwarder/alias?

we use gmail.com for all the addresses (for the site, and for individual users).

I found this, and am currently wading through it:

Actually disregard this since it does sound like a wordpress issue.

Correction: The notification emails stopped in early October. The last one I have is Oct. 6, 2013.

I tried that patch, to no avail.

Just putting this out there in the hopes of getting more eyeballs. We’re still not receiving email notifications for comments or submissions. Help!

Have you checked if they are being sent to your spam folder? Gmail sends all my Facebook notifications to spam even though I’ve told it that they’re not spam.

Yes, we checked spam. Not there.
