I set up User Registration Plugin to manage approvals for a Membership site that uses the MemberPress Plugin. Everything worked fine intil recently when the email notifications stopped.

For example the first email that should go to the user to say that their membership is pending doesn’t arrive. Neither does the email that should go to the Admin to let them know that there is an registration pending approval. As I said earlier, this all worked fine up to recently.

I am using the Free plugin. The plugin updates automatically and I am using WordPress Version 6.1.1. All other plugins and theme has been updated.

Do I need to purchase a Pro version? Is this a known problem?

    Thank You

    Tina

    Hi @tinagfx,

We have tested the registration process on your site. It is just loading the process and does not display the success message.
It seems that there is a conflict between the plugin. Could you please refer to this documentation https://docs.wpeverest.com/user-registration/docs/how-to-check-plugin-theme-conflict/ and follow the instruction? This will let you know the cause of the error.

Let me know if it helps or not, and I will get back to you.

    Regards!

    Hi Amrit

I had noticed that the ‘submit application’ button seemed not to work properly (had a spinning circle beside it) but in fact the form did submit and the user registration was shown in the back end but no emails to either user or admin about it.

I tried the Twenty-Twenty-One theme, still same issue of spinning circle beside submit button.

I installed the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin as you suggested but this switched me back to the Twenty-Twenty-One theme which is not good as the site is live and I didn’t want it looking ‘wrong’ for all the time it would take for me to test all the plugins.

Do you know if there are any issues using this plugin with MemberPress at present?

The site is on Linux/Apache hosting PHP 8

    Thanks

    Tina

    Hi @tinagfx,

    Thank you for writing back,

We do not have a compatible issue with the membership; we recommend you test the manual deactivation of the plugin to find which plugin is making these conflicts on the registration feature.

We believe this will help you to fix your email-related issue as well.

    Regards!

    Hi

I found that the conflict was with the plugin ‘WP Mail SMTP’. I disabled all plugins except User Registration and re-enabled them one by one. It nly failed when WP Mail SMTP was enabled and worked again when I disabled it.

Do you know anything about this? Perhaps you can help me to investigate this further.

    Thank you

    Hi @tinagfx,

Maybe your SMTP is not properly configured; please check this documentation https://docs.wpeverest.com/user-registration/docs/how-to-setup-smtp-using-easy-wp-smtp/ and follow the instruction kindly to configure the plugin.

If you face the same issues, please get in touch with the respective plugin for your issue.

    Hi

Can you tell me if the plugin ‘WP Mail SMTP’ is required for use by the User Registration Plugin? I can’t recall why I have it installed and I’m wondering if I can do without it ?

    Thank you

    Hi @tinagfx,

A WordPress SMTP plugin helps you integrate your website with an SMTP server to relay and send emails.

If your email system works fine without the SMTP plugin, you can deactivate the plugin.

    Hi Amrit

I am finding that the User Registration notification emails are going into the user’s spam folder. This didn’t happen when the ‘WP Mail SMTP’ plugin was enabled and working, so I would like to get the issue resolved.

I have contacted WP Mail SMTP support but no help so far really.

Have you heard of this conflict with WP Mail SMTP before? I now understand MemberPress installs this plugin. Surely there must be a lot of MemberPress users who use your plugin and so would be experiencing this issue too?

Appreciate any help you can give.

    Thanks

    Hi @tinagfx,

The user registration does not have a combability issue with these plugins. I think the problem is in your configurations.

You mentioned that SMTP activation stops sending emails and that STMP activation does not send emails to spam. It isn’t very clear.

Sending emails to the spam folder is also responsible for the title content and your email domain settings. We recommend changing the email title and content to see whether it works.

    Regards!
