• i have googled, searched the codex and these forums, and now i’m finally appealing for help.

email notification doesn’t work for me – if i try to sign up as a new user, i don’t get my registration details emailed to me. i also am not getting notification of comments.

it’s not a theme problem (it doesn’t work in the default theme either). i have triple-checked that the correct email address is showing under Users > Your Profile and Options > General Options.

i’m using 2.0.2. my theme is a modified Eastview but i have mostly changed the CSS and have not touched anything to do with mail stuff.

i’ve gone to https://www.coffee2code.com/archives/2004/06/28/plugin-wpphpmailer/ and installed the plugin there. to be honest, i’m not 100% sure what i was meant to fill in to configure the options for this plugin (unfortunately, my knowledge re: what SMTP is about is bit patchy). but i’ve tried it using various combinations of info and it’s simply not working.

    can anyone please help?

i have just noticed that i am now getting an error message that says:

“WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1]
    SELECT post_author FROM wp_posts WHERE ID =”

    what does this actually mean?

please help – anyone? i’ve looked on the forums and tried the various recommended fixes and nothing works. i created pages for a PHP contact form that wasn’t attached to wordpress and it worked fine. so sendmail is working.

i am also using a contact form on my wordpress site (available at https://www.dagondesign.com/articles/secure-php-form-mailer-script/) and that’s also working fine.
