We’ve experienced an issue with email notifications from this plugin that we’re unable to reproduce.

Our client was making changes to their site and every change to a page triggered an email notification that properly attributed the change to them except for one specific page.

This is the email that both the client and we received for the change, where it attributed the change to our user: https://app.screencast.com/TxFsCfInTNteq

After logging in and viewing a different plugin’s activity log, we can see that the change was correctly attributed to our client:?https://app.screencast.com/iCinQrVPhyUNY

Do you have any suggestions why this email notification might have listed the incorrect user for the changes?

    Hi @inconcertjon,
    Thanks for your message.

Can you confirm which notification(s) this is happening on?

This notification was for Page Updated. Just want to note, this occurred back on July 31st and we have not seen it happen again since.

    Hi @inconcertjon,
The only thing I can thing of is that the shortcode in use in the notification saying which was the editor in question, is the incorrect one.

Do you know which shortcode you’re using for this?

@voltronik, here’s the entire shortcode for the notification: https://app.screencast.com/GnrHKN7ucJ26V

    Thanks @inconcertjon,
Are you referring to the last four shortcodes showing the incorrect user information? If so, have you tried the email_user shortcodes instead? E.g. [email_user_login]?

Correct, the shortcodes in my screenshot are to display the user information that made the edits to the page.

According to your documentation, [email_user] is the correct shortcode to use per the following:

    User Shortcodes
These multi-purpose shortcodes relate to the person triggering the notification. This is most likely to be the author of a post or the user that is registering.

Why would [email_user_login] instead of [email_user] make a difference in this issue?

    Hi @inconcertjon,
It’s worth trying this in case it’s an edge case. It has been known that in some situations, the other set of shortcodes works in the opposite way.
This could indicate an overlooked issue with the documentation.
