• I don’t know what happened but I am no longer receiving email notification of comments. It used to work fine and I haven’t touched anything in my configuration files and yes, the “email me when anyone posts a comment” option is thicked. What can be the cause of this?
I have my blog hosted on godaddy.com has anybody had similar problems with this host? If I must write to the support service, what should I ask? The email where notifications are sent is the one in the “profile” tab or in the “general options” tag? Well in my case it’s the same and the email address works well.

  • I’m going to *bump!* this because I seem to be having the same problem and I can’t find any of these lines to edit.

I also have the same problems as djperry and ceo. Any ideas?

It suddenly broke with mine too. I get zero emails for comments and even when I tried to email a lost password! The previous solutions in the functions.php dont’ apply because I am running 1.52 and those lines aren’t in there. I have not changed any plugins or anything to cause it to suddenly break.

Has your hosting provider made any changes to your server that would prevent WP from sending mail?

    mxv

    (@mxv)

No changes on my provider’s side. Its driving me crazy, you never know how much you miss them until they break, now the only way to keep up with comments is to keep checking my site all the time.

No one can help??? This is really driving me crazy. not only does the comment notification not work, but neither does emailing a lost password. it is as if all emails from WP don’t work.

    bump.

anyone out there have any ideas? is there anything i can reinstall that might help or may have been corrupted?

With new install that was sending post messages I’m also now having this same “no post email notification” problem. However, I *do* get new user registration email notifications. Around the same time that I noticed this problem had developed, I also noticed that posts are no longer showing who they were created by (kind of like in THIS forum!) and that’s terribly confusing… and the main reason I joined this group! To help possibly point at a common configuration issue I’ll describe my system (remember: brand new install all at the same time of WordPress, PHP, and MySQL and nothing yet re-installed). I don’t seem to be having any other problems with anything at all (anything, not just WP). Like others, I’ve the proper configuration and it’s not been changed since the time when it did send emails about new posts.

System: XP-Pro (fully updated), WordPress running on my own local IIS 5.1 server with Mercury Email Server. No problems at all showing up in Event Viewer. Access is via domain name on dynamic IP mapped with dynDNS. So if WP caches IP address that could be a problem, but I reiterate that WP does send email messages if a new user registers.

    MySQL 4.1.12a-nt, PHP 4.4.1, WP 1.5.2.

I get no notifications of any sort anymore, not for comments, recovering a lost password, etc. I’m pulling out my hair trying to figure out why it was broken but with my limited knowledge of such things, I can’t understand what went wrong.

I am having the same problem with 1.5.2. It was working until a weeks ago. Nothing has changed. A few notifications trickled through for a few days, and now no comment emails come through.

Has anyone figured this out? There seem to be a lot of folks with the same problem, which would rule out a weird server situation. i wish someone in wordpress who knows the code would help out here. tell us what files have the code to send a notification email.

Also, my host is claiming the code to send notification is missing. I don’t know where they found this problem. I’m waiting for an answer from them as well.

Same problem here. I was on 1.5.2, and it worked until late November. Now there’s nothing. I upgraded to 2.0 hoping that maybe it would help, but no luck.

I thought it could have been some corruption in the theme I’m using, but I have reinstalled the theme, and switched to other themes as well. No luck.

Nothing has changed on the server side (says the provider). The only change I had made on the WP configuration is a new theme, but I’m not totally sure that’s when this mail notification stopped working.

I’ll keep hunting for an answer (now for 2.0), but if you find it before me, please post it.

I know someone that is having the same issue on a blog that was upgraded from 1.5.2 to 2.0

Email when a comment was posted was working until recently when it just stopped. Would love to find out why and if there is a fix for it.

Just to throw my voice in, I have the same problem running wp2.0. i’m pretty sure it stopped working right after 2.0 upgrade.

Same Problem here, fresh install of WP 2.0.
it thought maybe it was one of the plugins or a new theme, but upon disabling all of these it’s still not working.
And i see this thread goes on and still no solution for 2.0? *sigh*.

    bump

I’m going to bump this yet again as it seems to be still present in WP 2.0 and now 2.0.1.

I have WP 2.0 and the e-mailed new comment notification DID work for the first couple of week, but the mysteriously stopped.

I wondered if it might have something to do with the SpamKarma 2.1 plug-in so I’ve e-mailed the creator Dave, and he is checking into it. I doubt though that it is related to the SK2 plug-in though.

I’m at a loss. I really miss this functionality. Where are all the really smart people who can fix these things (god knows I’m not one of them!)?!?
