• I am using the Buddypress activity shortcode plugin and am only showing updates on a page. I have it set so that people can post to the page and that is working fine. However when someone replies to an update, it sends a notification email to the person who made the original update but the link in the email returns a “page not found” error.

    Hi,
That is the expected behaviour. The plugin only lists the activity items. Notifications are handled by BuddyPress and BuddyPress uses the default activity permalink for the mail/local notification.

    Hope that clarifies.

    Thanks for your reply!

Does this mean there is no way to notify a person via email when someone has replied to their post?

    Hi,
Before assisting further, May I ask the reason why you don’t want to use the default activity permalink?

That will give me some understanding of the issue to assist you better.

I want to display only activity updates on a page. I don’t want all types of activity on the site to display on the page. I want people to be able to post and reply on this page and receive emails when someone replies to a post. It is all working as described but the emails have links that don’t exist.

These are the shortcodes I have used to make my page. I also have the Rtmedia plugin. I deactivated the Rtmedia plugin to see if it caused any problem but the email links still did not work.

    [activity-stream title=0?allow_posting=true action=activity_update,rtmedia_update per_page=25]

I am not sure if this answers your question but I hope it does.

The links look like this mysite/activity/p/295/ but when you click it says no results found.

    Thank you for your time!!
