Email function on localhost

Hi there,

I’m trying to set up a small quiz for my office, it should be hosted locally on my computer. For this I installed easyphp, wordpress and tried 2 plugins for handling the quiz itself (wp pro quiz and quiz master next). Everything is working fine except the email function, on both.

Do they have have to be hosted on internet to work or can it be done just locally as i’m trying to do?

Things i tried already:
-switching back to default theme (sixteen)
-De-activating all other plugins
-Tried on both firefox 46.0.1 and chrome 50.

I am an absolute beginner with wordpress and any help would be extremely appreciated as i need it done asap.

I am using wordpress 4.5.2
OS : windows 7 home premium x64
