Email field validation

Nice plugin, thanks. This is more a bug report than a support request.

I have created a pod that includes an email field among many others. Recently I have come up against the email validation when I enter a bad email address into a pod post. When I publish the post, I get directed to a new screen:

Invalid e-mail provided for Email
? Back

But when I click the ?Back link (or go back in the browser), the form is cleared, which is pretty frustrating.

Is there some way of validating the email field in situ? Or otherwise preventing this behaviour?
(As far as I can tell, enabling the REST API for the pod allows the post to be published but clears the pod fields in the process.)
