    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the Holler Box plugin! I am just starting to use it, but I think it will be great if I can get it working.

I am using the free version and having an issue with the Faux Live Chat box. The screenshots in the link are numbered in accordance with this sequence of events.

Screenshots of Faux Live Chat operation

    1. When the box appears, there is no field for the email. There is only the message field.
2-3. When the visitor enters the message in the message field, and clicks the envelope icon the message field is redisplayed empty.
    4. Then the email field is displayed above it with the Send button.
    5. The confirmation message is displayed after Send is clicked.

    My questions:
    1. Has this behavior been observed by other users?
    2. If not, can you think of anything in my system that could cause this type of behavior?
    3. Is there a patch that you could create quickly to make the email field and the message be visible?

    Thank you.

  • Hi, I think this might just be a font color or background color issue. Can you use a web inspector to see if the text is actually there, but just the same color as the background? You can use a bit of CSS to fix that, if it’s the issue.

    Hi, Scott.

The placeholder text is displayed in the message field, so it is not a font color issue. The text that I type is sent through the email so I know it is getting captured. But it is not displayed when the form refreshes.

Also, I don’t see how a font or background color setting would stop the Email field from being displayed when the form initially opens. It’s not a problem that the email field is not there initially, if that is how the plugin works. But, the visitor needs to be able to see his message in the message field instead of the placeholder text coming back.

Did you take a look at the screenshots in the link?

    Thanks.

The email field is not supposed to be displayed right away, it only shows up a few seconds after a message is typed.

Can you post a link to your site so I can troubleshoot message not displaying?

    Hi Scott,
Did you have a chance to check this out yet? I sent you a link to my site through your website contact form.

Hi, I thought I was working with you, but it must have been someone else. I did not receive it, can you try again? https://hollerwp.com/contact/
