Based on current reports it looks like only the updraft notification is broken.

Hi, I’m having the exact issues the other users are reporting.

I have Updraft and WP Mail SMTP plugins installed.

Updraft is connected to my Google account to backup everything in Google Drive.

A couple weeks ago, I stopped getting the emails notifying me about the backup being completed (the backups finished successfully according to Updraft’s panel). And now, I started getting this error too PHP event:

code E_WARNING: json_decode() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given (line 177, wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Google/Auth/OAuth2.php) (Jun 18 19:55:36)

In parallel, I’ve also been getting for the last couple of weeks aprox an alert from plugin WP Mail SMTP on top of the WordPress admin panel saying:

There was a problem while retrieving Auth for gmail: Could not json decode the token

Exactly the same!
I believe the system emails ie. contact forms, transnational etc are still working.

Yes I think my Contact form is working ok. Issue seems to be directly related to UpdraftPlus backups.

thank you for verifying that other emails work and that just the Updraft notification email is not sending.

As said we are working on fixing this issue for all 3rd party libraries (google API and others) in one of the future releases of our plugin, but I don’t have a ETA yet.

Same Problem Here, Updraft errors from having this plugin running. Any fix. Same issue as vtomaspe10 – Updraft to Gdrive, Gmail, WpMailSmtp.

As posted on a support thread reporting the same issue, please read this reply for the explanation to this error.

You could downgrade the plugin to version 2.0.1 and the debug error notice will be gone, but the issue of Updraft notification not sending would still be there, so it’s not really a solution.

Thanks. Our contact page form is broken at the reCaptcha since adding the wpMailSmtp no emails being sent, and also we are getting the below back when we backup via UpDraft. Woo Product enquiry form is being sent. Anyone know if with the below error our backups are actually valid/ok. If not is it possible to switch WpMailSmtp off, backup, then switch it back on without having to do whole setup again. Really need both things working both important.!

Hi @gabjam,

for the contact form, please contact the support of the plugin you are using, probably the contact form is not configured correctly and the details passed to WP Mail SMTP are not correct, so the emails fail.

As for the error for Updraft, please verify with their support if the backup is not affected.

ok thanks, had to deactivate your plugin! need backups more importantly than messages as site only in development, will come back to sending messages later – hopefully works then. Think our contact form not working as we had to delete another conflicting plugin Post SMTP to get yours working, contact form was working prior.

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.1.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

Been getting this error for the last week now every few minutes even though the test email is sent successfully the message comes back. Been using the Lite version for over a year and no issue. No new plugins were installed. Do you have a fix for this as yet

please open a new support topic and tell us what error message you are getting.

As said in other replies: we fixed the debug error notice displaying and so now more errors are being displayed. Errors that existed before as well, but they were just not displayed to you.

I saw the answer to this but just wanted to check on something else. I noticed today that my Ninja Forms contact form on our website has defaulted to showing that it’s in maintenance. I also had two comments pending for my approval which is something I usually get e-mails about. Would this be related to the same issues people are facing with Updraft? I have that installed along with WP Bruiser and Wordfence for my security. the last two plugins would be the only ones that interact with the Ninja Forms or comments directly, I believe.
