Email cc – how do I set this up

I set this up on two wp sites. I was testing them with mobile phones. I really couldn’t figure out where the messages went to until I found this forum. Okay, I get it, I have to be signed into FB. But…
on the one site I set up, I received an email saying there was a message to respond to in my FB account.
This didn’t happen on the second account.
So, what is the secret sauce or hidden realm that set up on Door #1 that isn’t on Door#2? Since I have no clue as to where to look. Id like to get the email telling me there’s a FB message that I haven’t responded to rather than have FB running all the time … see, sometimes I’m working and not on FB… and …
