• Hello,

    I am currently using MailPoet on [redacted] We’ve just redesigned the site and configured post notifications to go to people who select to receive news for certain categories.

    Today I added a post which fell under 2 different categories. The notification went out to the list for cat A as well as the list for cat B. The issue is that some people have subscribed to both lists and received the email twice. Is there any way to avoid this? Maybe with the premium option? I can’t be the only one that needs this functionality.

    Any advice would be awesome!

  • Hi,

    How many newsletters do you have set up? If it’s just one newsletter, then it shouldn’t be going out twice to both lists.

    However, if you have two separate newsletters set up, there is unfortunately no way to prevent it going out.

    Does that help?

    There is an automatic newsletter set up for each category, so 6 separate newsletters.

    Can you set up one newsletter for all lists? What happens if the newsletter is set up to go to categories 1-5, but the latest post is marked as category 3. Do people who subscribed to the other categories get that email because the newsletter is set up to go to all lists?

    Hi,

    Yes, they will still get the email, because it’s set to go out to all lists. Unfortunately there isn’t a real solution here, as lists are designed to be exclusive, while categories aren’t. As such, the only way to prevent a subscriber from getting multiple emails would be to have a post only have one category (and thus only go out to the one list associated with that category).

    The paid version doesn’t offer something that may fit my needs? Maybe list segmentation or something?

    @sabremary unfortunately, no!
